Rongorongo script, or kohau rongo rongo, is a script characterized by pictographs or glyphs carved on wood, the translation of which is still uncertain. In Rapanui language, kohau means "wood used to build the canoe hull" and rongo rongo means "great message" or "great study", so kohau rongo rongo has been translated as "recitation woods" or "recitation sticks".
